Barry Slauenwhite is the Canadian Regional Director for Best Christian Workplaces Institute. In his role, Barry invests in helping leaders and ministries thrive and build healthy cultures through the introduction of BCWI’s Employee Engagement Survey and consulting tools.
Barry has more than 40 years of experience in leading churches and NGOs. Before joining BCWI, he served for 26 years as President and CEO of Compassion Canada – one of the largest charities in the country. In his role with Compassion, Barry worked with churches in 37 countries and in that time, cultivated his passion for the local church’s impact and sustainability. He continues to serve their mission as President Emeritus.
Barry has also sat as the chair of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC) and the VIVA Network (Oxford, UK). Barry holds an MS in Christian Leadership from the CREST Leadership Centre.
Barry’s experience has led him to understand the inner workings of the church and para-church. He is committed to BCWI’s vision of building a flourishing workplace where God is honored, productivity is high, and staff members are fully engaged. His expertise is invaluable as he works with ministry partners using the Employee Engagement Survey and as he provides Culture Consulting services.
Barry and his wife Sharon live in London, Ontario, and have two married daughters and two granddaughters. He is an author and global speaker. Barry is a long-time member at Gateway Church in London, where he has served as board chair, deacon, Bible teacher, and supply preacher.
